The fort of "Santa Cruz" in Oran
The fort of Santa Cruz is a magnificent colossus of stone rising at the top of the mountain of Aïdour, west of Oran and dominating, because of its position in height, the city of El Bahia.
The fort is 429 meters above sea level and faces a Catholic church, located a little below: the chapel of Santa Cruz, which is managed by the diocese of Oran.
Entrance to the fort is chargeable. Moreover, it is possible, and even recommended, to take a guided tour in order to have detailed explanations of the history and architecture of the site. The interior of the fort is quite sober. You can visit the walkway, the apartments of the soldiers who lived there permanently, as well as those of the governor
